Madhu is passionate about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and celebrating what makes them unique. She has experience working in school- based, non-profit, and private practice mental health settings and believes in taking a systems-centered approach that factors in all aspects of someone’s life to meet them where they are and grow with them.
Madhu provides counseling services to those at the poles of the lifespan: children and adolescents between the ages of 3-16 and older adults who are 60+. She primarily works with those who may have anxiety, depression, life adjustments/transitions, or may be navigating and exploring their identities.
Madhu also works with educators on various issues, such as transforming vicarious trauma and burnout, managing stress and anxiety, addressing compassion fatigue, and building resilience.
Madhu believes that behavior is communication and uses approaches that are integrative, trauma-informed, and lgbtqia+ affirming. She loves incorporating movement, music, and play in her work with individuals and groups to connect with them and promote social-emotional learning capacities, self-esteem, and healthy attachments. She understands that, although this is a special time in a child’s development, these changes can be daunting and she hopes to foster authenticity and empowerment in your collaboration and journey together.
Madhu is a Pennsylvania Licensed Associate Professional Counselor. She received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University and her Bachelors in Psychology and Gender, Sexuality, Women’s Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
When she is not working, Madhu loves cooking with friends and family and spending time in her garden.
She is currently able to accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark/BCBS, and UPMC health insurances.
